Diabetes Symptoms

Chronic diseases are responsible for 75% of all healthcare spending in the United States and Diabetes is rapidly moving to the top of the list.

By 2020 approximately 1/3 of Americans will be either diabetic or pre-diabetic (blood sugar higher than normal but not high enough to be diabetic). 366 million people in the world have it now and diabetes is killing someone in the world every 7 seconds.

November is Diabetes Month. Do you know if you have diabetes or pre-diabetes? Are you sure? According to the American Diabetes Association these are the diabetes symptoms.

Type 1 Diabetes

  • Frequent urination
  • Unusual thirst
  • Extreme hunger
  • Unusual weight loss
  • Extreme fatigue and Irritability

Type 2 Diabetes*

  • Any of the type 1 symptoms
  • Frequent infections
  • Blurred vision
  • Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
  • Tingling/numbness in the hands/feet
  • Recurring skin, gum, or bladder infections

*Often people with type 2 diabetes have no symptoms
