Regulate Cholesterol: Food Is a Better Pill to Swallow

New guidelines to regulate cholesterol suggest Americans are out of control. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

I was shocked when I thought about the implications of the new updated guidelines for the treatment of high blood cholesterol levels from the american College of Cardiology – american Heart Association (ACC-AHA) Task Force.

By 2020 more than half of Americans will have diabetes or be prediabetic.

While the guidelines are a rational approach to controlling cholesterol and heart disease, if they are followed, just about everybody between the ages of 21 and 75 will be taking the cholesterol lowering medication group called statins. It’s all because we’re out of control. I’m not talking about cholesterol levels. I’m talking about our eating habits and lifestyle. By 2020 more than half of Americans will have diabetes or be prediabetic.

Nuff said. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Healthy food and a healthy lifestyle is a much better pill to swallow.
